Saturday is the big one: parade, Oktoberfest, and a street fair on Third
Saturday stacks three at once, all re-confirmed this week: the German-American Steuben Parade steps off at noon up Fifth Avenue from 68th to 86th, with the Oktoberfest at Central Park's Rumsey Playfield opening at 1 p.m., per the parade committee; the 3rd Avenue Community Benefit Festival runs 10 a.m.–6 p.m. from 66th to 86th, per the city's events calendar and CB8; and the Makers Manifest craft market sets up on Third between 78th and 79th, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., per its Eventbrite listing. Expect Fifth and Third to both be closed to cars — plan the stroller routes accordingly.

A second outlet confirms it: Adria is closed on Second Avenue
East Side Feed has now matched Tuesday's news that Adria, the Italian restaurant at 1556 Second Avenue between 80th and 81st — in the space Gray Hawk Grill vacated — has closed after two years. We reported the closure Tuesday, from Upper East Site. Co-owner Maria Marquez-Hass, part of the group behind La Dulce Vida on East 83rd and L'Osteria on Lexington, told Upper East Site the team plans to stay on the Upper East Side; no new address yet.

Inside The Langdon: a closer look at Yorkville's $45,000-a-month penthouse
We noted The Langdon's leasing debut on Sept. 5; new coverage from 6sqft and New York YIMBY now fills in the picture at the 26-story, 45-unit rental tower at 288 East 88th Street from Alchemy-ABR (with Carlyle backing). Asking rents run from $12,400 a month to $45,000 for the full-floor penthouses, and the amenity list reads like a checklist of the moment: pet spa, screening room, children's playroom. Coverage still points to first move-ins expected in October; outlets differ on exactly when leasing opened, so we'll leave the launch date to the leasing office — the listings are live either way.

Nearby: FX's "Disinherited," the new drama from "Better Call Saul" co-creator Peter Gould, is back on the Upper East Side for a two-day shoot this week — down around East 66th and Third, per East Side Feed, well south of our patch. If you hit a thicket of white trailers below 70th, that's what it is — and yes, the show picked the right zip code for a series with that title.

Tonight: 'The Incredibles 2' under the stars at John Jay Park
The Movies Under the Stars screening at John Jay Park (East 77th and Cherokee Place, just south of our line) is tonight at 7:30, presented by Council Member Julie Menin with NYC Parks and the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, per CB8's listing — and the film, per the Mayor's Office schedule and Macaroni KID, is "The Incredibles 2." Free; bring a layer, the river breeze is real.

Corrections
For the record: a correction that misstated its own dates
Tuesday's edition (#34) carried a note explaining last week's edition-numbering mix-up — and as first published, that note got its own days wrong, calling Sept. 11 a Thursday and Sept. 12 a Friday, and dating the archive restoration to "Sunday." It was live on the site for several minutes on Tuesday morning before a same-morning fix landed the correct days: Sept. 11 was a Friday, Sept. 12 a Saturday, and the restoration happened Monday. We regret the error — especially there.

Yorkville, Remembered
Yorkville's Germantown identity was forged by a disaster
Yorkville was already home to German immigrants when a single catastrophe cemented its identity as the city's 'Germantown.' On June 15, 1904, the steamship General Slocum caught fire in the East River during the annual outing of the Lower East Side's St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, killing more than 1,000 passengers, mostly women and children. Grieving survivors abandoned their shattered Kleindeutschland community on the Lower East Side for Yorkville, transplanting German New York uptown and reinforcing a German character the neighborhood would keep for decades. It's the somber prologue to the parade that marches Saturday.
