Good morning. It's Marathon Sunday, and the runners come up First Avenue through Yorkville later today. It's also the last day of early voting before Tuesday's election, so today's history corner goes to the Yorkville brewer who won a seat in Congress in 1898. Otherwise it's a quiet news morning, and we'd rather keep the paper short than pad it.

Yorkville, Remembered
A Yorkville brewer won a seat in Congress in 1898
Jacob Ruppert Jr., heir to his family's Yorkville brewery, ran for Congress in 1898 as a Tammany-backed Democrat. He won New York's 15th District, unseating the incumbent, Philip B. Low. Ruppert served four terms, from 1899 to 1907, and then declined to run again. In 1915 he and Tillinghast Huston bought the New York Yankees.

Bring a sign to First Avenue, save your loudest cheer for the back of the pack, and check the microwave clock. It probably still thinks it's an hour later.
