Good morning. A short Friday paper: next week's school schedule has two changes worth putting on the fridge, and the closed stretch of the esplanade just south of us has a new reopening date. In the history corner: what stood where Ruppert Park is now.

Next week: no school Wednesday, and middle schoolers get out early Thursday
Public schools are closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day. On Thursday, Nov. 12, middle schools and District 75 schools hold afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences, and students in those schools are dismissed three hours early. Ruppert Park stands on part of the old Ruppert brewery
Ruppert Park, the one-acre green on Second Avenue between East 90th and 91st Streets, is named for Colonel Jacob Ruppert, the brewer who also owned the New York Yankees. The city built the park in the late 1970s on land that was once part of the Ruppert family's brewery.
