Saturday, November 7, 2026 · No. 82
Good morning. It's a quiet Saturday, with no new openings or closings to report, so this is a short paper. The 82nd Street market is open as usual, and today's history corner is about the year Gracie Mansion became a city landmark.

Gracie Mansion has been a city landmark since 1966
Gracie Mansion, the 1799 country house in Carl Schurz Park at East End Avenue and East 88th Street, was built by the merchant Archibald Gracie. It was designated a New York City landmark in 1966, and it has been the mayor's official residence since Fiorello La Guardia moved in in 1942.

It's the first Saturday on standard time, and the neighborhood's dogs haven't been told. They still want breakfast at the old hour.
