Bluestone Lane is taking over the old Adria space on Second Avenue
The storefront Adria vacated won't sit empty long: Bluestone Lane, the Australian-inspired coffee chain, is opening another Upper East Side cafe in the Second Avenue space that just lost its restaurant, per East Side Feed — and Upper East Site separately puts the address at 1556 Second Avenue, where Adria closed this month after two years, between 80th and 81st per that outlet's closure coverage. Neither report gives an opening date. A co-owner has said the team plans to stay on the Upper East Side; that search, as far as we've seen, is still on.

Tomorrow's game plan: parade on Fifth, festival on Third, Oktoberfest in the park
Saturday stacks three at once, all re-confirmed this week: the German-American Steuben Parade steps off at noon up Fifth Avenue from 68th to 86th, with the Oktoberfest at Central Park's Rumsey Playfield from 1 p.m., per the parade committee; the 3rd Avenue Community Benefit Festival runs 10 a.m.–6 p.m. from 66th to 86th, per the city's events calendar; and the Makers Manifest craft market sets up on Third between 78th and 79th, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., per its Eventbrite listing. Expect Fifth and Third both to be closed to cars along those stretches — walk, and bring the kids.

For the record: three fixes to Thursday's paper as first published
Thursday's edition (#36), as first published — it was live on the site for roughly half an hour Thursday morning before a same-morning standards fix — (a) carried a Talk of the Neighborhood item on the Patis closure that was our third run of the same story, framed with a cause the sources don't state; the standards desk pulled it, and pulling a published item always gets a line; (b) led with Adria's closure carrying a paraphrase promoted into quotation marks ("exploring what comes next"), called Maria Marquez-Hass the owner — she is a co-owner, and the restaurant group, not she personally, operates La Dulce Vida and L'Osteria — and placed 1556 Second Avenue "near 80th" rather than between 80th and 81st; and (c) said the "Disinherited" shoot was "on our blocks" when the cited coverage puts it around East 66th and Third, well south of us. All were fixed in the same-morning follow-up. We regret the errors.

Yorkville, Remembered
Yorkville had its own Hollywood tough guy
Before 'The Public Enemy' and 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' made him a Hollywood legend, James Cagney grew up in a string of Yorkville tenements after his family left the Lower East Side - accounts place the Cagneys on East 79th Street near First Avenue and later on East 96th Street, where they became parishioners at St. Francis de Sales Church. The Yorkville of his boyhood was a working-class patchwork of German, Irish, Czech and Hungarian families - the same ethnic patchwork the neighborhood's history keeps turning up.
