Things to Do in Yorkville, NYC — The Neighborhood Guide
Yorkville runs from East 79th to 96th Street, Third Avenue to the East River — seventeen blocks that hold a riverfront park, the mayor's house, the last of German New York, and more good bakeries per capita than almost anywhere uptown. The riverfront
Carl Schurz Park is the neighborhood's backyard: the East River promenade, the dog runs, and Gracie Mansion at its northern end. Summer brings free outdoor movies on the park's sports court.

Eat like a Yorkviller
When 86th Street was the 'German Broadway,' dozens of beer halls and konditoreis lined the corridor. The survivors are institutions.

A little history while you walk
The Jacob Ruppert Brewing Company covered Third Avenue from 90th to 94th until 1965 — its owner bought the Yankees with Yorkville beer money, and Ruppert Yorkville Towers stands on the site today. The Marx Brothers grew up on E 93rd; Lou Gehrig was born in the neighborhood in 1903; and Carl Schurz Park is named for the German-born senator the neighborhood's immigrant community championed.
