We only log what a real source has published. Rumors stay out until they firm up, and a lease doesn't count as an opening. Our patch runs from East 79th to 96th Street, Third Avenue to the river. Confirmed departures in and near our patch, newest first.
The movie theater closed after more than 60 years. Its owner, Reading International, agreed in September to sell the property for $41 million. It sits well south of our patch. Reported Oct. 31 (via 6sqft).
Closed after 99 years serving the Upper East Side. Madison is west of our patch. Reported Oct. 31 (via Upper East Site).
The Italian trattoria confirmed it is closing permanently, after denying a closing report in March. No last day of service published when we reported it. Reported Oct. 22 (via Upper East Site and East Side Feed).
The shipping and mailbox shop closed its last Yorkville store after about 25 years in the neighborhood. No closing date or reason in the excerpt we could see. Reported Oct. 19 in our edition (via Upper East Site).
Closed Oct. 1 when the cookie chain shut all 22 remaining stores, including its Madison Avenue shop. The company president said the business could no longer fund operations. Reported Oct. 7 (via Hoodline; QSR Magazine and Nation's Restaurant News also reported it).
The seafood-focused Italian restaurant closed after two years. Co-owner Maria Marquez-Hass told Upper East Site the team plans to stay on the Upper East Side. Reported Sept. 15, and East Side Feed confirmed it Sept. 17. Bluestone Lane is taking the space (see below).
Closed as of our Aug 21 edition — though delivery apps went on taking orders after the lights went out (via Upper East Site).

The Greek frozen yogurt chain opened its Upper East Side shop, and neighbors lined up for the debut. Its sign went up the week before. Reported Oct. 27 (via Upper East Site; East Side Feed reported the sign Oct. 23).
A board-game café with coffee and baked goods, now open per Upper East Site; Patch placed it in a former convenience store and called it the neighborhood's second board-game café after Hex & Co. Reported Oct. 19 in our edition (via Upper East Site and Patch).
The French bistro is back after a two-year hiatus, in the former Yefsi Estiatorio space one block below our southern line. Reported Sept. 29 (via Upper East Site).
Open, with monthly classes and open practice hours per its own site. Reported Sept. 23 (via Upper East Site).
The Bridgehampton pilates, barre and HIIT studio opened its first New York City location. Reported Sept. 5 (via Upper East Site; East Side Feed and Commercial Observer also covered it).
The Bushwick record shop quietly opened its Yorkville outpost in early August. Reported Sept. 5 (via East Side Feed; Upper East Site first reported the expansion).

Chef Julian Medina's Spanish tapas restaurant, opening next door to his Soledad in the former Enzo Bruni space. No date yet. Reported Oct. 6 (via What Now New York).

Chef Caterina Pepe's Southern Italian restaurant is aiming, tentatively, for Thanksgiving week. Reported Oct. 4 (via Patch). The first preview ran Sept. 28 (via Upper East Site).
A 75-mat hot-yoga studio with a cold plunge is going into the old Eastside Billiards space, aiming for a fall opening with no firm date. Reported Sept. 27 (via Patch and East Side Feed).
The Madame Bonté team is converting its East 84th café into a second Bicchiere wine and pasta bar. No date yet. Reported Sept. 25 (via Upper East Site).
The coffee chain is taking the space Adria left. No date yet. Reported Sept. 18 (via East Side Feed and Upper East Site).
The fast-casual sushi spot is planning a second UES outpost in Yorkville. Reported Sept. 18 (via Upper East Site).
The Northern Italian restaurant in the old San Matteo space was still deep in renovation, with no date, as of Sept. 16 (via Upper East Site). Patch reported the Community Board 8 pitch Aug. 3.

A Japanese grocery with a sushi counter. Signage has been up since July, and Upper East Site called the opening "in sight," but as of Sept. 1 no source we found said the doors were open.
The London doughnut maker's first U.S. location, with a baking school attached — due to open in November, per Upper East Site and Time Out (reported Aug 31).

The discount retailer leased 28,837 square feet in Extell's retail condominium, the former H&M, mostly on the second floor. Hoodline reports a target of December 2027. Reported Oct. 9-10 (via Upper East Site, Commercial Observer and Hoodline).
A Hungarian cultural house with a ground-floor restaurant, targeting spring 2027. Reported Oct. 8 (via Upper East Site and What Now New York).
